William Bailey, a steadfast pillar of strength and love, passed away peacefully at home on August 17, 2026, in the room that brought him the most joy and comfort. Born on February 4, 1954, in Eutawville, South Carolina, William lived a life that was as full as it was inspiring, enriched by his unwavering commitment to family, community, and service. The beloved son of Jack and Merry Bailey, William was predeceased by his cherished siblings, Janice Bailey and Jack Bailey Jr. He leaves behind a legacy of love in his surviving family: his devoted sons Archie Bailey and Dante Bailey, his loving daughters Farrah Bailey and Janice Terry, and his treasured grandchildren, Archtra, Angel, Rashad, LaChanda, and young William. In 1970, William married Madison Bailey in Washington, D.C., embarking on a journey of love and partnership that spanned two decades. Together, they nurtured a family rooted in values of kindness, hard work, and community spirit. A proud alumnus of Howard University, William pursued his passion for engineering, later enhancing his expertise with an MBA from UDC. His professional life was marked by an admirable 40-year tenure with the Bethesda Fire Department Station 20, where he rose to the position of Fire Inspector for Washington, D.C. His dedication to safeguarding others was a testament to his character. William's service to the community extended beyond his professional life. He was an active member of the First Baptist Church for over four decades, a longtime member of the Rotary Club where he served as president in 1995, and a proud member of the American Legion. His commitment to service was inspiring and unwavering. In his leisure time, William found joy and tranquility in nature as an avid fisherman, never missing the excitement of opening day. His love for gardening was equally profound, and he took great pleasure in sharing the bounty of his vegetable garden with neighbors, particularly his prized tomatoes. Sundays were reserved for football, where he cherished moments spent with his sons, a grill sizzling with steaks, and laughter echoing through the house. A memorial service to honor and celebrate William's life will be held at 1:00 PM on August 29, 2026, at Springfield Missionary Baptist Church, located at 11064 Old Number Six Highway, Eutawville, SC 29048. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made in William's memory to the Wounded Warrior Project, a cause that was close to his heart. Though he is no longer with us, William Bailey's spirit will continue to live on in the hearts and minds of all who were fortunate enough to know him. His legacy of love, dedication, and service will be remembered and cherished by many.
