It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of William Gunn, who left us on October 3, 2026, at the Harbor Grace Hospice in Atlanta, GA. Born on April 5, 1955, in Reidsville, NC, William was a beloved husband, son, brother, uncle, and friend. He was preceded in death by his cherished wife, Monique Gunn; his parents, William and Pauline Gunn; and his younger brother, Raymond Gunn.
William's journey in life was marked by dedication, service, and love for those around him. He graduated from George Washington High School in Danville, VA, in 1974, and shortly thereafter, he answered the call to serve his country. From 1974 to 1978, William wasa proud member of the United States Marine Corps, embodying the honor and commitment that defined his character.
After his military service, William embarked on a career as an independent truck driver. His work allowed him to traverse the country, bringing goods and cheer to all the places he visited. His independent spirit and strong work ethic were evident in all that he did, and he was respected by colleagues and friends alike.
William is survived by his loving family: two brothers, Clifton Gunn(Bobbie) and Leandra Gunn (Della); and three sisters, Rosemary Washington, Renita Gunner, and Karen Robinson (Tim ). He leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and great-great-nieces and nephews, all of whom were touched by his warmth and kindness.
A service to honor William's life will be held on October 14, 2026, at 1:00 PM. Instead of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to a charity of one's choice, a testament to William's generous spirit and compassion for others.
