With heavy hearts and cherished memories, we announce the passing of William Alvin Green Jr., who departed this world on May 7, 2026, at the age of 72. Born on May 26, 1953, in Ripley, Tennessee, William’s life was a testament to the power of love, family, and dedication. He passed peacefully, surrounded by his loving family at his home in Gates, TN, a fitting farewell for a man who lived his life enveloped in the warmth and affection of those he held dear.
William was the beloved son of the late William Alvin and Pansy (Nelson) Green. He is predeceased by his parents and his brother, Ronald "Buddy" Green, with whom he shared many childhood adventures and memories.
For over half a century, William shared his life with his devoted wife, Paula Green. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and countless memories. Their union, a remarkable 51-year journey, was blessed with two children, Monica (Scott) Meyer of Humboldt, TN, and Brandon (Jackie) Green of Gates, TN. William was a proud father, always present with guidance, wisdom, and unwavering support.
He is survived by his sisters, Kaye Johnson of Ripley, TN, Annette McCaslin of Dyersburg, TN, Denise Cothran of Gates, TN, and Janice Green of Halls, TN, and his brother, Timmy Green of Gates, TN. William’s family was his pride and joy, and he cherished every moment spent with them.
William’s legacy continues through his five grandchildren, Colby (Somer) Allen, Caden Green, Olivia Green, Scottie Meyer, and Willow Meyer, and his great-grandson, Sawyer Allen. He adored his grandchildren, who brought immense joy and pride to his life, and he loved nothing more than spending time with them.
In 1987, William embarked on a professional journey that would define his career. He owned and operated Delta Transportation, where he worked alongside his son, Brandon, turning it into a family business that thrived under his leadership. His passion for trucking was infectious, and he took great pride in his work, seeing it as more than a job, but a way of life.
William’s hobbies reflected his love for family and the simple joys in life. He was an avid collector of Star Note money and two-dollar bills, a testament to his appreciation for the unique and rare. Family vacations to Emmice, MO, and attending chuck wagon races were among his favorite pastimes, creating memories that his family will cherish forever. No holiday was complete without the entire family gathered together, and every Sunday was spent sharing meals and laughter, a tradition that will endure in his honor.
William's warmth, kindness, and dedication to his family and community leave an indelible mark on all who knew him. His presence was a constant source of love and stability, and he will be deeply missed by all.
A celebration of William’s life will be held at a later date, where family and friends will gather to honor a man whose life was a beautiful blend of love, family, and unwavering dedication. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to a charity of choice, in memory of William Alvin Green Jr., a man whose life was a testament to the power of love and family.
