On March 23, 2026, the world lost a remarkable soul, William A. Thomas, at the age of 85. William passed away peacefully in hospice care, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, joy, and love. Born on October 15, 1940, in Marlboro, South Carolina, William was the cherished son of Edith and Rev. Alexander Thomas, who predeceased him. William's journey through life was marked by his unwavering dedication to helping others and his ability to bring warmth to every room with his beautiful smile. He was a man who never met a stranger; his open heart and welcoming nature made everyone feel like a friend. He graduated from Bennettsville High School in 1958, and his thirst for knowledge led him to Pembroke College, where he earned a bachelor's degree in business in 1970. With this education, William built a career that was as much about uplifting others as it was about professional success. Swimming was one of William's great joys. Whether gliding through the water or cheering on others, his passion for the sport was infectious. It was just one of the many ways he embraced life with vigor and enthusiasm. William was a devoted father to his beloved daughter, Ulonda Evett Williams, who survives him. He adored his three grandchildren and was blessed to witness the arrival of his great-grandchild, whom he cherished deeply. A service to celebrate William's life will be held on March 27, 2026, at 15:00, at Bethea Chapel, located at 111 Robeson St, Bennettsville, SC 29512. Family, friends, and all whose lives he touched are warmly invited to attend and honor the memory of a man who gave so much of himself to others. In this time of mourning, the family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude for the outpouring of support and encouragement they have received. "The family would like to thank everyone for their support and encouragement during this difficult time." William A. Thomas will be remembered not only for the life he lived but for the love and laughter he shared. His legacy will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know him. May he rest in peace, knowing that his life made the world a better place.
