William A Howald

May 7, 1948 — May 29, 2026

May 7, 1948 – May 29, 2026 William A. Howald, a beloved husband, father, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully at his home on May 29, 2026, at the age of 78. Born in Akron, Ohio, on May 7, 1948, William was a man whose life was marked by service, love, and dedication to his family and community. William was the cherished son of William and Elizabeth Howald, who preceded him in death, along with his dear sister, Elizabeth Jo Ann. Raised in a nurturing home, William learned the values of kindness and resilience from his parents, which he carried throughout his life. A proud graduate of North Senior High School in 1965, William's journey of service began shortly after. He joined the U.S. Army, serving his country with honor from 1965 to 1969, including a courageous deployment during the Vietnam War. His patriotism and camaraderie were lifelong traits that he later expressed through his involvement with the Vietnam Vets MC USA, Chapter "C", in Ohio, where he found a brotherhood that enriched his life with shared experiences and enduring friendships. William was a man of great love and commitment, first marrying Patricia Pavone, with whom he shared meaningful chapters of his life. Later, he found a profound and lasting partnership with his beloved wife, Michelle, who survives him. Together, they built a family that became the cornerstone of William's happiness and fulfillment. He is survived by his devoted children, Jennifer, William, Jason, Ryan, and Ashley, each of whom carries forward his legacy of strength, integrity, and compassion. William's heart was also filled with warmth for his siblings, James (with whom he shared a special bond following the passing of James's wife, Donna), Deborah (and her husband, Dale), Dennis (and his wife, Tiffany), Theodore (and his wife, Karen), Judy, and Robert (and his wife, Laura). His siblings were his lifelong companions, and their closeness remained a source of joy and support throughout his life. William's life was a testament to the virtues of loyalty, courage, and love. He found happiness in the simple pleasures—moments spent with family, stories shared among friends, and the peace of a quiet afternoon. He was a guiding light to his family, always ready with a listening ear or a wise word. As we bid farewell to William A. Howald, we remember him not only for his achievements but for the love and laughter he brought into our lives. His spirit will forever be cherished in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. A service to honor William's life will be held at a later date, bringing together family and friends to celebrate a life well-lived. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in William's memory to a veterans' charity of your choice, a fitting tribute to a man who gave so much for his country and his loved ones. Rest in peace, dear William. Your legacy will continue to inspire and guide us.
