Willard "Bill"

Willard "Bill" Daniels, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and dedicated community member, passed away on August 4, 2026, at the age of 87. Born on April 22, 1939, in Huntington, West Virginia, Bill was the cherished son of Willard F. Daniels Sr. and Minnie Lou Peters Daniels. Bill's life was a tapestry of devotion, compassion, and service. He shared an extraordinary 61-year marriage with his beloved wife, Mary Virginia Deacon, whom he married on June 19, 1965, in Huntington, WV. Together, they built a family filled with love and laughter, and their home was a sanctuary for their children and grandchildren. He was a proud alumnus of Vinson High School, Marshall University, and the Medical College of Virginia, where he graduated in 1964. He served his country with distinction as a member of the US Army, stationed in Germany from 1966 to 1969. After his military service, Bill returned to his hometown to work alongside his father in their General Medicine practice. His career in medicine was marked by dedication and excellence, with significant tenures at Cabell Huntington Hospital, St. Mary's Hospital, and as the Medical Director for the Wayne County Health Department for 28 years. Bill was deeply committed to his faith and his community. Raised at Vinson Memorial Church, he later became an elder at Spring Valley Presbyterian Church and Central Presbyterian Church, where he served for 34 and 23 years, respectively. His leadership extended to the Lions Club, where he was an active member and District Governor of Lions Club District 29-L. His intellectual curiosity was endless, and he was an avid reader and collector of medical antiques, particularly those related to Civil War Medicine. His treasured collection was graciously donated to the Touma Medical Museum, a testament to his passion and dedication to history and learning. Bill was predeceased by his parents, Willard and Minnie Lou, and his dear daughter Beth. He leaves behind a legacy of love and commitment in his surviving family: his devoted wife Virginia; his children, David (Jennifer Storms) Daniels, Katherine Daniels (Edward Guttman), and Ann Miller (Timothy); his grandchildren, Emily Huson (Kyle), Thomas Miller, Franklin Guttman, Nora Guttman, and Elizabeth Miller; and his great-grandchildren, Brooks and Hadley Huson. He is also survived by his brother J. David Daniels (Peggy), sister Jo Anna Russell, brother-in-law H. Lee Flower, and many cherished nieces, nephews, and cousins. Family, friends, and those whose lives were touched by Bill are invited to gather in remembrance and celebration of his life on August 15, 2026, at 2:00 PM at Central Presbyterian Church, located at 40 Lincoln Way West, Chambersburg, PA 17201.
