Wilda Whitehead Furister
September 15, 1945 — March 23, 2026
It is with heavy hearts and profound gratitude for a life well-lived that we announce the passing of Wilda Whitehead Furister, a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend. Wilda departed this earthly realm on March 23, 2026, at the age of 80. Her journey began in Jacksonville on September 15, 1945, as the cherished daughter of Kenneth Whitehead and Marcella Perry, who predeceased her and now welcome her home.
Wilda was a beacon of love and kindness, known for her remarkable ability to make everyone around her feel cherished and valued. She believed with all her heart that Jesus Christ is everyone's Savior, a faith that guided her life and inspired her unwavering love for all those she encountered.
Wilda shared over 30 beautiful years of marriage with her husband, Larry Furister, who preceded her in death. Together, they built a family rooted in love and devotion. Wilda is survived by her devoted children: Kim (Milton), Dawn (Richard), Brenda (Kurt), Linda (Ken), and her son, Larry Jr. Her legacy further lives on in her granddaughters Amber (Nick), Amanda, Stormy, grandson Steven, and 14 other treasured grandchildren who brought immeasurable joy to her life.
A dedicated professional, Wilda retired from Clay County Transportation, where she served as a school bus driver. Her commitment to the safety and well-being of the children she transported was a testament to her caring nature and strong work ethic.
Outside of her professional life, Wilda found joy and solace in the simplicity of everyday pleasures. She had a profound love for gardening, which allowed her to nurture beauty and life. Her skilled hands created warmth and comfort through crochet, crafting pieces that were as lovely as they were functional. A voracious reader, Wilda found limitless worlds within the pages of her books, a passion she shared with her family and friends.
Wilda's warmth and generosity of spirit left an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of knowing her. She was a woman of grace and strength, who shared unconditional love without reservation. Her legacy will forever be carried on by those who were fortunate enough to be loved by her.
As we say goodbye to Wilda, we find comfort in knowing that she is reunited with those she loved in eternity. Her life will be celebrated in a service that honors her memory and the incredible impact she had on so many lives. We invite all who knew and loved Wilda to join us in remembering a truly remarkable woman whose life was a blessing to all.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Wilda’s memory to a charity of your choice, continuing her legacy of love and generosity.
