In Loving Memory

Wilbert D Hamilton
September 6, 1963 — October 15, 2026
With heavy hearts and profound sadness, we announce the passing of Wilbert D. Hamilton, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and servant to his community, on October 15, 2026. Wilbert left this world peacefully in his sleep at a hospice, surrounded by love and care.
Wilbert was born on September 6, 1963, in Hartford, Connecticut, to Erelyn and Darnell Hamilton. His life was a testament to kindness, service, and unwavering faith. He married Sheena L. Hamilton in March of 1988, also in Hartford, embarking on a beautiful journey of 38 years together. Their union was blessed with two wonderful children, Eric and Jasmine, who were the pride and joy of his life. Wilbert's legacy lives on through his three cherished grandchildren and one great-grandchild, who will forever hold his memory close in their hearts.
A man of great dedication, Wilbert served his country with honor and distinction in the United States Army. As a Drill Instructor from December 1982 to April 2004, he shaped and inspired countless young soldiers, instilling in them the values of discipline, courage, and integrity.
After his military service, Wilbert continued to serve his community as a dedicated Postal Service Worker for 22 years. His warm smile and friendly demeanor brightened the days of those he encountered, making an impact on everyone he met.
Wilbert's faith was the cornerstone of his life. As an apostle, he moved church crowds with the power of Christ's word, spreading messages of love, hope, and compassion. His commitment to his faith extended beyond the pulpit, as he worked tirelessly with numerous charities, offering support and guidance to the less fortunate.
Never one to put himself before others, Wilbert's selflessness was evident in everything he did. Whether preaching at churches, working out at the gym, or lending a helping hand to those in need, he embodied a spirit of generosity and warmth that will be dearly missed.
Wilbert is survived by his devoted wife Sheena, their children Eric and Jasmine, his loving grandchildren and great-grandchild, and a host of family and friends who were touched by his kindness. His spirit will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Wilbert's memory to local charities he passionately supported throughout his life.
Wilbert D. Hamilton's life was a beacon of light and love, and while he may have left this earthly realm, his legacy of faith, service, and compassion will continue to inspire us all. May he rest in eternal peace.
