Wesley Blackwood

October 17, 1975 — May 17, 2026

Wesley Blackwood, a beacon of light whose melodies and kindness resonated with all who knew him, passed away on May 17, 2026, at the age of 50, in the warm embrace of his family, following a courageous four-month battle with a devastating illness. Born on October 17, 1975, in Lexington, Tennessee, Wesley's journey through life was marked by unparalleled passion, creativity, and boundless generosity. Wesley was the son of the late Ronald Blackwood and Patsy (Bowman) Free, and the brother of his late sister, Tracye Watkins. Though his parents and sister preceded him in death, Wesley's spirit and legacy endure through the lives he touched and the music he left behind. On January 31, 1998, Wesley embarked on a new chapter with his soulmate, Charlie Williamson, in a heartfelt ceremony at her Aunt Lola's home on the picturesque Oregon coast. Their marriage, a testament to enduring love and partnership, spanned an inspiring 30 years, during which they built a beautiful family together. Wesley is survived by his adoring wife Charlie, his sons Arlo and Donovan of Paducah, and his daughter Iris of Lexington, KY. He loved to brag about his kids, who were his greatest joy. A man of immense talent, Wesley's life was a symphony of music and creativity. As a gifted musician and songwriter, he was a pillar of the community, earning admiration and respect from fellow musicians and fans alike. Wesley's love for music was matched only by his enthusiasm for video games, comic books, and all things nerdy, making him a cherished figure among enthusiasts of these passions. Wesley's gentle nature and kind heart were as much a part of his identity as his music. Rarely seen without a guitar in hand, he was always ready to share his gift with anyone willing to listen, embodying a spirit of generosity that knew no bounds. Those who knew Wes remember him as a person who would literally give you the shirt off his back if you needed it, a testament to the depth of his compassion and selflessness. Wes was a force of nature, and the world was lucky to have him, even though his time here was tragically too short. There will never be another one like him. We celebrate the life of a remarkable man whose legacy will forever echo in the hearts of those he touched. As we bid farewell to Wesley Blackwood, we honor the indelible mark he left on the world through his music, his love, and his unwavering kindness. His memory will continue to inspire and uplift, reminding us all of the beauty that one life can bring. No services are scheduled at this time. Lindsey Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
