It is with heavy hearts and profound admiration that we announce the passing of Wendy Jo Stoeker, who departed from this world on March 6, 2026, at the age of 66. Wendy's journey concluded peacefully at St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids, after a valiant battle with cancer. Her unwavering spirit and remarkable resilience were ever-present, even in her final days. Born on December 12, 1959, in the welcoming town of Waterloo, Iowa, Wendy was the beloved daughter of Fred Stoeker, Sr. and Shirley Stoeker, who both predeceased her and now welcome her into their loving embrace. She leaves behind her cherished siblings, sister Pennee Stoeker and brother Fred Stoeker, Jr., who will continue to celebrate her extraordinary life and cherish the memories they shared. Wendy's educational journey began at Thomas Jefferson High School, where she graduated in 1978. Her talent and dedication shone brightly as she became an All-American diver on the J-Hawk swim team, a testament to her exceptional abilities and determination. Wendy furthered her education at the University of Florida, where she completed her training as an Occupational Therapist, a role in which she touched countless lives with her compassion and skill. Throughout her life, Wendy was characterized by her fierce determination and her ability to achieve the seemingly impossible. She approached life's challenges with a surprising ease and a tenacity that inspired everyone fortunate enough to know her. Her ability to overcome obstacles was matched only by her love for her faithful companion, her cat "Gator," who was a constant source of joy and comfort to her. Wendy's family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the dedicated staff at St. Luke's Hospital. Their exceptional care and honest transparency provided Wendy and her family with a consistent light during her darkest days, for which Pennee and Fred are eternally thankful. Though Wendy did not have children of her own, her legacy lives on in the hearts of her family and friends. Her life was a testament to courage, strength, and the power of love. Wendy Jo Stoeker will be remembered for her indomitable spirit, her unwavering love for those around her, and the remarkable surprises she brought into the world. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Wendy's memory to a charity of your choice, reflecting her spirit of giving and her desire to make the world a better place, one small act of kindness at a time. A private celebration of Wendy's life will be held at a later date, where those who loved her will gather to honor her memory and share in the joy that she brought to their lives. May her soul rest in peace and her legacy continue to inspire us all.
