Wendy Ann Nelson
October 16, 1967 — July 3, 2026
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Wendy Ann Nelson, a beloved mother, sister, grandmother, and friend, who left this world on July 3, 2026, at the age of 58. Wendy, born on October 16, 1967, in the vibrant city of New Orleans, LA, succumbed to cardiac arrest, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and resilience.
Wendy was the cherished daughter of the late Victoria Cormick and Leroy Brown, who undoubtedly greeted her with open arms in the afterlife. Her early years were filled with the rich culture and music of New Orleans, which shaped her into the spirited and outspoken woman she became.
A proud graduate of Walter L. Cohen High School in 1985, Wendy pursued a career in the medical field, demonstrating her unwavering dedication to helping others. She worked at Jefferson Medical Center as a Nursing Assistant for many years, and in the 2000s, she achieved her certification as a surgical technician. Her commitment to her work was only surpassed by her compassion for her patients and colleagues.
Wendy's life was a testament to her faith. She was a devoted member of The Fountain Of Youth Church under the pastoral leadership of Christopher Fountain. She served on the Hospitality Committee, sang in the choir and found great joy in reading the Bible - which guided her through life’s trials and triumphs. Her love for the Lord was evident in the way she lived her life — full of kindness, generosity, and humor. Wendy was also a proud member of The Lady Buck Jumpers from New Orleans, LA. She loved to second line and let the music from her beloved culture take her away in dance.
Family was the cornerstone of Wendy's existence. She leaves behind her beloved children, Erin Lee Brown and Victoria Ann Nelson, who were the lights of her life. Her legacy continues through them and her cherished grandchild, whose presence brought her immense joy.
Wendy was a beloved grandmother to Ethan Jacob Blake Brown and sister to Wayne Brown Sr. (Althea Brown), Denise Metoyer, and Jeanna Brown-Lee (Fred Lee). She shared a special bond with her sister in Christ, Rema Fountain, who was a constant source of support and friendship. Wendy's familial connections were the threads that wove together her rich tapestry of life.
Known for her vivacious personality, Wendy was never one to shy away from expressing her opinions. Her humor and wit could brighten any room, and her sweet soul left an indelible mark on everyone she encountered. Wendy had a passion for fashion, often showcasing her style through her love of shopping for bags and shoes, and she took great pleasure in getting dolled up, paying special attention to her hair and nails.
In accordance with her family's wishes, a private funeral ceremony will be held to honor Wendy’s life and spirit. Though she has departed from this world, her memory will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Wendy's memory to a charitable organization of your choice, reflecting her generous spirit and dedication to helping others.
As we say goodbye to Wendy Ann Nelson, we hold on to the memories of her laughter, her strength, and her unwavering love. Her family shares this special message: "Forever in our hearts. Much love."
