It is with profound sadness and deep respect that we announce the passing of Wayne J. Van Etten, a cherished father, grandfather, brother, and friend, who left this world on March 4, 2026. Wayne passed away at the age of 61, leaving behind a legacy of love, dedication, and service. He was born on September 29, 1964, in Utica, NY, to his loving parents, Charlotte (Paul) Van Etten and Arliegh (Jean) Moore, both of whom he has now joined in eternal rest. Wayne was a man of unwavering commitment, both in his personal and professional life. He proudly served his country with distinction in the United States Air Force, culminating in a fulfilling career that saw him retire as a Master Sergeant. His service was marked by loyalty, strength, and an unwavering sense of duty that inspired those around him. After his military service, Wayne continued to demonstrate his remarkable work ethic and passion for excellence through his career at Boeing. He was widely respected for his professional achievements and left an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of working alongside him. Wayne's love for life extended beyond his career. He was an active and proud member of the Combat Veterans Motorcycle Association (CVMA), where he found joy in riding his motorcycle alongside his comrades. His hobbies included hitting the golf course, where he enjoyed the tranquility and challenge of the game, and indulging in the magic of Disney, which brought out his playful spirit. Wayne was predeceased by his beloved wife, Leigh Van Etten, who was truly the love of his life. Together, they built a family rooted in love and resilience. Wayne is survived by his devoted children, Cody (Tabitha), Katie (Nick), Chris (Samantha), Cameron (Lauren), and Clint, who will carry forward his legacy with pride and love. His six grandchildren, Clark, Ryder, Milo, Magnolia, Lena, and Sparrow, were the light of his life, and he cherished every moment spent with them. He also leaves behind his dear sisters, Denise (Jim) Baxter and Karen (Dave) Mayer, who were not just siblings but lifelong confidantes and companions. Wayne's life was a testament to love, service, and dedication. His warmth, humor, and compassion touched all who knew him, and his memory will forever be etched in our hearts. His legacy of kindness and service will continue to inspire all those who had the privilege of knowing him. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made in Wayne's memory to the CVMA O'Fallon, IL, an organization close to his heart that embodies the values he cherished. As we bid farewell to Wayne, we celebrate a life well-lived and a person deeply loved. May he rest in peace, reunited with his beloved Leigh and parents, forever riding the skies on his eternal journey.
