Wayne left this world on April 5, 2026, at the age of 73, following complications related to liver cancer. His final moments were peaceful, surrounded by the love and warmth of his family.
Born on May 15, 1952, in Fort Knox, Kentucky, Wayne was the beloved son of John and Mary Hambaugh. He grew up with a deep sense of duty and service, values instilled in him by his family and the community that surrounded him. Wayne's formative years in Kentucky shaped his steadfast character and compassionate nature, qualities that defined him throughout his life.
Wayne answered the call to serve his country with honor and distinction as a member of the United States Army. A proud Vietnam veteran, he carried the experiences and sacrifices of his service with humility and grace, a testament to his enduring courage and dedication.
Following his military service, Wayne embarked on a career as a journeyman electrician, a profession he excelled in for 35 years. His colleagues knew him as a master of his craft, whose work ethic and expertise were matched only by his integrity and fairness. Wayne's hands built not just circuits and connections, but also relationships and a legacy of excellence in every project he undertook.
Wayne was predeceased by his loving parents, John and Mary Hambaugh, and his brother Richard Hambaugh. He is survived by his devoted brothers, David and Mark Hambaugh, who shared with him a lifetime of memories and support. Wayne's legacy lives on in his four adoring grandchildren, who were the light of his life and the joy of his heart.
A celebration of Wayne’s life will be held on April 8, 2026, at 1:00 PM at Sinn Funeral Home, located at 111 Apple St, Monteverde, Minnesota. Family, friends, and all those whose lives were touched by Wayne are invited to join in honoring his life and legacy.
Wayne's family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the medical team and caregivers who provided compassionate care during his final days. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Wayne's name to support veterans' causes, a testament to his enduring commitment to those who served.
