Washington Gallon

May 28, 1947 — April 7, 2026

It is with profound sorrow and heartfelt gratitude for a life well-lived that we announce the passing of Washington Gallon, affectionately known as "Wash," who departed this earthly realm on April 7, 2026, at Tallahassee Memorial Hospital. Born on May 28, 1947, in the serene town of Monticello, Florida, Washington's journey through life was marked by unwavering faith, boundless love, and an enduring legacy. Washington was the cherished son of the late Willie Gallon Sr. and Frances Siplin Gallon. He was preceded in death by his parents and beloved siblings, Dennis, Katherine Stanton, Gracie G Allen, Eddie Sr., Willie Jr., Joe, Nathaniel, and George Gallon. Though they are no longer with us, the cherished memories they created together remain an indelible part of our family tapestry. In 1967, Washington embarked on a remarkable journey of love and partnership with his devoted wife, Bessie (Murphy) Gallon. Together, they built a life in Monticello, Florida, where they raised five children: Chris Gallon of Tallahassee, Florida; Tammy Henderson of Tallahassee, Florida; Troy Gallon of Monticello, Florida; Kelvin Gallon (wife April Gallon) of Mobile, Alabama; and Kenya Young (husband Landarryl Young) of Monticello, Florida. Washington's heart swelled with pride for his nine grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren, who were the joy of his life. Washington was a man of many talents and passions. His entrepreneurial spirit was evident in the successful ventures he shared with Bessie, including a janitorial company, an agriculture enterprise, and a landscaping business. Yet, it was his dedication to his faith that truly defined him. On July 18, 1987, he was baptized as a devoted Jehovah’s Witness. For 39 years, he served as an elder and a cherished member of the Monticello congregation, sharing his faith with fervor and kindness. An ardent lover of the outdoors, Washington found solace in hunting, fishing, and repairing automobiles. He delighted in sharing his life experiences with his children and grandchildren, imparting wisdom and love with each story. Known for his loyalty and forgiving nature, Washington never met a stranger and was known for his steadfast faith in Jehovah. In his final moments, he spoke the words, "Thank You Jehovah," a testament to his enduring devotion. Washington's life was a tapestry woven with acts of kindness and support for those in need. His gentle spirit and compassionate heart touched all who knew him. As we gather to celebrate his life, we find comfort in the words of Isaiah 26:19, a verse that echoes his family's hope and belief: “Your dead will live. My corpses will rise up. Awake and shout joyfully, You residents in the dust! For your dew is as the dew of the morning, And the earth will let those powerless in death come to life." Washington Gallon's legacy of love, faith, and service will forever inspire those he leaves behind. His family, a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and countless spiritual friends will continue to honor his memory by living lives imbued with the same grace and devotion he exemplified every day. As we bid farewell to a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, we do so with the assurance that his spirit lives on in the hearts of all who were touched by his life.
