Waneeta Mae Manning

May 13, 1935 — September 21, 2026

Waneeta Mae Manning, lovingly known as "Nita," passed away peacefully on September 21, 2026, at the age of 91. Born on May 13, 1935, in Alma, Michigan, Nita was a beacon of kindness and joy, leaving an indelible mark on everyone who had the privilege of knowing her. Nita was brought into this world by her biological parents Peter Henry and Mildred Baker and was lovingly raised by Ernest and Lillian Clary. Her life was enriched by two remarkable marriages—first to Richard Reed on January 16, 1953, with whom she shared 21 years, and later to Thomas Manning on November 21, 1975, with whom she shared 36 years of love and partnership. Together with Tom, she embarked on a new chapter, founding and managing Manning Enterprise, a successful venture that showcased her dedication and entrepreneurial spirit. Her warmth and compassion were unparalleled. Nita possessed a unique ability to connect with others, always eager to learn about their histories and stories. Her infectious smile and delightful sense of humor were constants in her life, making every encounter with her a joyful experience. She found simple pleasures in life, often savoring pancakes and butter, which brought her immense joy. Nita was a devoted mother to her children Denise (Tom), Debra (Gary), Scott, and Daniel (Suzie). She was also a loving grandmother to Aimee, Missy, Rachel, Jessi, Nick, Lindsey, Bill, Mike, Lindsay, Stephanie, Joe, and Grace, and a proud great-grandmother to 16 great-grandchildren. Her family was her pride and joy, and her legacy of love and laughter will continue to inspire them. She was predeceased by her biological parents, Peter Henry and Mildred Baker and the parents who raised her, Ernest and Lillian Clary, her husbands Richard Reed and Thomas Manning, and her beloved granddaughter, Meghan Sowles. Her family finds comfort in the many wonderful memories they shared with her. The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Cornerstone Hospice for their compassionate care and support during Nita’s final days. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to a charity of your choice in Nita’s honor, keeping her generous spirit alive through acts of kindness. Though we mourn her passing, we celebrate Nita's extraordinary life and the countless ways she touched our hearts. Her memory will forever be cherished, and her spirit will continue to live on in the stories and smiles of all who loved her.
