Wanda Sue Jones (Hargis)

March 12, 1949 — August 5, 2026

Wanda Sue Jones (Hargis), a cherished matriarch and beloved friend, passed away peacefully at her home in Hanging Limb, Tennessee, on August 5, 2026, at the age of 77. Born on March 12, 1949, in the serene hills of Katie Norrod Hill, Overton County, Tennessee, Wanda was the cherished daughter of Margaret (Sisco) Hargis and Willis D. Hargis. Her life was a testament to unwavering love, strength, and dedication to family and community. Wanda was blessed with a nurturing spirit, a trait she inherited from her parents, and carried it forward to her own family. She was predeceased by her devoted husband, Paul Jones, with whom she shared a remarkable journey filled with love and understanding. Together, they fostered a home that was a safe haven for their children and grandchildren. Wanda was a sister to her siblings, Arthur D, Claud, Paul, and Treva Geraldine, who predeceased her, leaving behind treasured memories. She is survived by her loving siblings, Mary Ellen (Osborne), Viola (Wiggins), Patricia (Harris), Donna Gayle (Phillips), and brother Sammy Hargis, who will forever hold her close in their hearts. A devoted mother, Wanda is remembered by her children, Donna Lewis (Jones), Maddison Grace Jones, and Jimmy Jones, as a guiding light and a source of endless encouragement. Her legacy continues through her cherished grandchildren, Dr. Amanda Vaden (Jones) and her husband Jason Vaden, Phillip Jones, Serena Jones and her wife Jessica, and Ryan Durham. Wanda's love also reached her five great-grandchildren, who were the jewels of her later years: Madison Grace Jones, Kinsley Sloan Vaden, and Amira Marie Grasty. Wanda's life was a tapestry woven with acts of kindness, compassion, and a deep commitment to her family and community. She had an innate ability to make anyone feel at home and was known for her warm hospitality and infectious laughter. Her presence will be profoundly missed, yet her spirit will continue to inspire all who knew her. In remembrance of Wanda, her family kindly requests that donations be made to a charity of your choice, a gesture that reflects her generous heart and lifelong dedication to helping others. As we say goodbye to Wanda Sue Jones, we honor her extraordinary life—a life that touched so many and left an indelible mark on the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her. May she rest in peace, joining her beloved family members who have gone before her, and may her memory forever be a blessing to us all.
