Wanda Mae Tyrrel, a beacon of love and warmth, relinquished her earthly body and went home to be with the Lord on July 6, 2026. Born to Illif and Neva Ensminger in 1933, Wanda's life was a testament to the power of family, friendship, and faith.
Predeceased by her parents, beloved husband Jack, cherished son Michael, and siblings Bill, Bob, Lois, Jerry, and Sandy, Wanda leaves behind a legacy of love and resilience. She is survived by her devoted daughter Jaqueline (David) Onnen and son Steven (Mary) Tyrrel. Her spirit lives on in her grandchildren Jennifer (Kent) Unwin, Chelsea (Jay) Mellen, Ryan (Chelsea) Tyrrel, Skyler (Amanda) Onnen, Sarah (Ryan) Phillips, and Isaac (Megan) Tyrrel, as well as her great-grandchildren Carter, Miles, Harper, Connor, Griffin, Eleanor, and Colton. Wanda is also remembered by her dear sister-in-law Joyce Ensminger and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends who were like family.
In her marriage to Jack Tyrrel, Wanda found a partner with whom she raised three wonderful children—Jaqueline, Michael, and Steven. Her devotion to her family was boundless, and her home was a sanctuary filled with laughter, love, and the irresistible aroma of her legendary chicken and dumplings. Wanda's kitchen was a place where family and friends gathered, sharing not only meals but also treasured moments.
Wanda's life was enriched by her myriad talents. Her skillful sewing, crafting, and painting left a legacy of cherished treasures for her family and friends. Her love for animals was well-known, as she showered her pets with affection and care. Wanda's heart was as open as her home, welcoming friends into her circle with warmth and generosity.
After many years in Burlington, Iowa, Wanda moved to Louisiana, Missouri, where she found a new community of friends and a church family that she cherished deeply. Even in her final years, sharing her home-cooked cookies and breads brought her immense joy.
A celebration of Wanda's life will be held on July 18, 2026, at 10:00 AM at Lunning Chapel in Burlington, Iowa. The family extends heartfelt thanks to the hospice and long-term care facility staff for their compassionate care.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice in Wanda's memory, as her life was a testament to generosity and kindness. Wanda Mae Tyrrel's spirit will continue to inspire and nurture all who knew her, and her memory will be forever cherished.
