Walter Williams, a cherished father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, peacefully passed away on July 24, 2026, at Buffalo General Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer. Born on March 13, 1943, in Buffalo, NY, Walter was a beacon of strength, love, and wisdom to all who knew him. Walter was predeceased by his beloved wife, Josephine Williams, with whom he shared over 60 years of marriage. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and unwavering devotion. Walter leaves behind a legacy of family and love, survived by his children: Denise Mann, Joanne Williams, Walter Jr., Delores Williams, Debbie, Diane, and Ray Williams. He was a proud grandfather to 10 grandchildren and an adoring great-grandfather to 13 great-grandchildren, each of whom brought immense joy to his life. An alumnus of East High School, Walter graduated in 1960 and went on to dedicate his career to the Buffalo Public School System, where his influence and commitment to education left a lasting impact. Known for his meticulous skills and passion, Walter excelled in crafting, home maintenance, landscaping, and auto mechanics, often lending a helping hand to friends and neighbors. The family will hold a service in Walter's honor on August 6, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at the Thomas T. Edwards Funeral Home, located at 995 Genesee Street, Buffalo, NY 14211. Friends and family are invited to gather and celebrate the life of a remarkable man who touched so many hearts. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly suggests that donations be made to a charity of your choice, a gesture that would honor Walter's generous spirit and his lifelong commitment to helping others.
