Walter Scott

March 9, 1941 — September 21, 2026

Walter Scott, a man whose life was a testament to love, resilience, and family, passed away peacefully at his home on September 21, 2026, after a courageous battle with a long-term illness. Born on March 9, 1941, in Columbus, Ohio, Walter was a beloved son to the late Fredrick (affectionately known as "Freddy-Man") and Ida Mae Scott. Walter shared a remarkable 62-year marriage with his devoted wife, the late Peggy Scott, whose memory he cherished dearly. Together, they built a beautiful family, and Walter's legacy continues through his children: Sampson, Clyde, and the late Joyce Scott. He was a proud grandfather to eight grandchildren and was further blessed with the joy of thirteen great-grandchildren, all of whom brought immense pride and happiness to his life. Walter's life was defined by his unwavering dedication to family, his gentle spirit, and his deep sense of community. His warm heart and infectious laughter left an indelible mark on everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. From a young age, his kindness and generosity were evident, and they continued to shine brightly throughout his years. A man of faith, Walter was a long-standing member of the Mt. Calvary Missionary Baptist Church, where he found a place of worship and fellowship. It is here that we will gather to celebrate his extraordinary life on September 26, 2026, at 12:00 PM. The service will be held at Mt. Calvary Missionary Baptist Church, located at 3375 West Siebenthaler Ave, where friends and family are invited to pay their respects and honor his memory. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to a charity of your choice, a gesture that would reflect Walter's generous spirit and his lifelong commitment to helping others. Walter Scott’s life was a beacon of love and strength, and his memory will remain a cherished part of all who knew him. While he will be profoundly missed, his legacy will continue to inspire and guide those he leaves behind.

In lieu of flowers, the family of Walter Scott welcomes donations to a charity, nonprofit, church, or organization of your choosing.
