It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Walter Nelson, a cherished father, grandfather, and friend, who departed this life on July 15, 2026, at the age of 65. Walter passed away peacefully at his home, surrounded by the love and warmth of his family. Born on March 21, 1961, in Newark, New Jersey, Walter was the beloved son of the late Mr. and Ms. Nelson. He carried with him the values instilled by his parents throughout his life, spreading joy, kindness, and laughter wherever he went. Walter was a dedicated and esteemed member of the Greystone Hospital family for 35 years, retiring in 2021. His colleagues remember him not only for his professional dedication but for his unwavering spirit and the ability to bring smiles to the faces of everyone around him. A man of simple joys, Walter found happiness in watching sports, a passion he shared with his friends. His conversations with his daughter, Quialliama Nelson, and his granddaughter were the highlights of his days, bringing him immense pride and joy. Walter's playful spirit was evident in his love for watching old movies, fishing, with his best friend, Dwayne Liptrot, and Eugene Holloway "Peanut" who stood by him throughout his illness. Walter's infectious laughter and warm presence will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. He was a man who touched the lives of many, leaving behind a legacy of love and devotion that will forever be cherished by his family and friends. In honor of Walter's memory, the family suggests that donations be made to a charity of your choice, reflecting the generosity and compassion that Walter embodied throughout his life.
