Born on March 17, 1975, in the close-knit town of Aberdeen, Mississippi, Walter was a beacon of warmth and kindness whose legacy will endure through the countless lives he touched. Walter was the beloved son of Walter Word Sr. and the late Willie Mae Hayes. He grew up surrounded by the unwavering love of family, which laid the foundation for the compassionate and generous man he became. Walter shared an unbreakable bond with his brother, Micheal Green (Jennifer), who predeceased him, and together they forged memories that remained close to his heart throughout his life. He was the proud and loving father to Alex Hoskins and Faith Word, and a proud and loving uncle to his niece Jenetta Green who were the joy of his life and the source of his greatest pride. Charity Full Gospel Baptist Church, where he will be honored in a service celebrating his life on May 17, 2026, at 3:00 PM. The church, located at 1524 6th Ave S, was a place of worship that Walter held dear, and it will now serve as a gathering place for those who mourn his loss but also rejoice in the life he led. Beyond his family, Walter’s life was enriched by a host of uncles, aunts, cousins, and friends who regarded him as both a pillar of strength and a source of joy.
