Walter Henry, Jr., a man of remarkable spirit and warmth, passed away peacefully on July 30, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. Born on August 2, 1947, in Jacksonville, Florida, Walter was the beloved son of the late Walter Henry, Sr. and Jessie B. Scott. Walter's life was a tapestry woven with love, laughter, and service. A proud graduate of William M. Raines High School, he served his country with honor in the United States Navy. His dedication and commitment to his community were evident in his active membership at the Household of Faith Church under the guidance of Bishop Lewis and Lady Bernadette Williams. Walter enriched the lives of those around him with his sweet nature and sharp wit. He was known for being outspoken and funny, often engaging in playful banter, yet always doing so with kindness and intelligence. His love for life was evident in his hobbies, which included spending time at the senior citizens center, dining at Gold Coral, and cherishing moments with his family. He was a devoted father to his surviving children, Cheryl Henry, Prudence Henry, and Rico Henry. Walter's legacy lives on through his eleven grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren, who will continue to carry forward his values of love and integrity. He also leaves behind two cherished friends, Sunny and Bosco, along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends who were touched by his presence. Walter was predeceased by his son, Walter Henry, III, his parents, Jessie B. Scott and Walter Henry, Sr., his sister, Wilma Delores Brown, and his former wife, Saundra Henry. Though their loss was profound, Walter found comfort in the enduring love of his family and friends. In keeping with Walter's wishes, a private funeral ceremony will be held to honor a life well-lived. Those wishing to pay tribute to Walter's memory are encouraged to make a donation to a charity of their choice, reflecting the generous spirit with which he lived his life. Walter Henry, Jr. will be fondly remembered for his unwavering love for his family, his infectious humor, and his dedication to his community.
