Walter Edwin Guede

September 22, 1940 — September 21, 2026

Walter Edwin Guede, a beloved father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on September 21, 2026, just one day shy of his 86th birthday, surrounded by his loving family. Born on September 22, 1940, in the charming town of Lacon, Illinois, Walter was the cherished son of Edwin and Lucille Guede, who preceded him in death. Walter's life was a testament to dedication, resilience, and love. He devoted 55 remarkable years to a career at Caterpillar, where his hard work and commitment were as steadfast as the machines he helped to create. His colleagues remember him as a dependable and passionate worker who always had a kind word and a smile to share. Family was the cornerstone of Walter's life. He is lovingly remembered by his three sons, Rick, Jeff, and Steve Guede, and his three daughters, Loretta Hansen, Lisa Guede, and Gina Guede. His legacy lives on in his 22 great-grandchildren, who brought immense joy and pride to his later years. Walter's passions extended beyond his work and family. An avid fisherman, he found peace and joy on the water, casting lines and sharing stories with friends and family. He cherished his time on the farm, especially during the corn-picking season, and had a particular fondness for driving his tractors. His love for antique garage sales was well-known, and he often returned home with newfound treasures and tales of his adventures. A celebration of Walter's life will be held on September 23, 2026, at 12:00 PM at the home of his son, Rick Guede, located at 1970 Strasser Lane, Creve Coeur. Family and friends are welcome to gather and share memories in honor of a life well-lived. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the American Heart Association, a cause dear to Walter's heart, to continue the fight against heart disease. Walter Edwin Guede will be remembered for his unwavering dedication, his generous spirit, and the love he shared with all who knew him. He leaves behind a legacy of kindness, strength, and cherished memories that will be treasured for generations to come.
