Born on April 20, 1929, in the serene town of McMinnville, Tennessee, Walter's life was a testament to dedication, love, and unwavering faith. Walter was a devoted husband to his beloved wife, Doris Ann Jones, whom he married on March 8, 1952. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and memories that will forever be cherished by their family. Walter was a proud father to Celia Belitz and a doting grandfather to Amy Seger, Ben Belitz, and Beth Jennings. He further embraced the joys of great-grandfatherhood with Vera, Delia, and Harlan Seger, and Rory Belitz enriching his life with their youthful energy and boundless joy. A graduate of Tennessee Technological University, Walter pursued a career that matched his analytical mind and steadfast work ethic. As a Civil Engineer, he contributed significantly to the Oak Ridge National Laboratory, the Y-12 Complex, and the Tennessee Valley Authority, from which he retired in 1997. His professional life was marked by integrity and a profound commitment to the communities he served. Walter's faith was a cornerstone of his life. He was an active member of several Church of Christ congregations, including Karns, Maryville, East Side, and West End, where he served as a song leader. His voice, full of warmth and devotion, uplifted many and was a testament to his deep spiritual convictions. In his leisure time, Walter found joy in nurturing the land as a dairy and Angus cow farmer. His hands were skilled not only in engineering but also in construction, where he occasionally worked as a contractor, leaving a tangible legacy through his projects. Walter was predeceased by his siblings Ruth, Junior, Phillip, Quinten, Laurel, and Joy, who undoubtedly welcomed him with open arms into the next life. His enduring spirit and the lessons he imparted to his family and friends will remain an everlasting legacy. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to a charity of your choice in Walter's memory, a gesture that will continue his tradition of giving and compassion.
