Walt Kennedy

Walt Kennedy, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on August 28, 2026, at the age of 83. Born on February 26, 1943, in Syracuse, NY, Walt was the cherished son of Lewis and Alice Kennedy. He is predeceased by his dear brother Lawrence, and leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion that will be carried forward by his family and friends. Walt's life was marked by an unwavering dedication to his family and country. He served with honor in the United States Navy for 30 years, achieving the rank of Quartermaster Chief (QMC). His commitment to service was a guiding light throughout his life, and he was proud to have dedicated his career to the Navy. Family was at the heart of everything Walt did. He was a devoted husband to his beloved wife Sheila, with whom he shared 59 years of marriage. Together, they built a beautiful life and raised two wonderful children, daughter Tina Claar and son Scott Kennedy. Walt welcomed his daughter-in-law Kris into the family with open arms and was a doting grandfather to his three granddaughters, Jonelle Claar, Abigail, and Elizabeth Kennedy. His grandchildren were his pride and joy, and he delighted in every moment spent with them. Walt was also an active member of the Masonic fraternity at Lodge Star, where he was known for his kindness and willingness to lend a helping hand. His involvement in the lodge and his dedication to helping the youth were a testament to his generous spirit and commitment to bettering the community. The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to VLP and Aligned for their compassionate care and support during Walt's final days. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to a charity of your choice in Walt's honor. Walt Kennedy's life was a testament to love, service, and integrity. His presence will be deeply missed, but the memories he created will be cherished forever by all who knew him.
