December 15, 1950 — September 6, 2026
Wallace Martin, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed peacefully on September 6, 2026, at Glenbridge Healthcare, enveloped by the warmth of those who cherished him. Born on December 15, 1950, in the charming town of Boone, North Carolina, Wallace was the cherished son of Pearl Wilson Martin and James Roy Martin. He was a man whose life was a testament to love, dedication, and unyielding strength.
Wallace was a devoted husband to Cheryl, with whom he shared 56 beautiful years of marriage. Together, they built a family defined by love and unity. His legacy lives on through his children, James Martin and wife Lisa of Kingsport, TN, and Candace Ayers and husband Adam of Zionville, NC. His pride and joy, his grandchildren—Makenzie and Savannah Martin, Bailey Ayers and wife Alayna, Shayna Watt and fiancé Lexi, Cayden Watt and fiancé Carlee, and Keyton Watt—were the lights of his life. His great-grandbabies, Charleigh Ayers and Dawson Watt, brought him boundless joy. Wallace is also survived by several very special cousins, whose bonds he treasured deeply.
Predeceased by his parents and great-granddaughter Madison Ayers, Wallace is now reunited with them in eternal peace. He will be remembered not only for his love of family but also for his passion for the outdoors. Wallace relished the annual camping trips with the guys at the Wallace Settlement, adventures that filled his heart with joy and camaraderie.
In his final years, Wallace received compassionate care from the dedicated staff at Glenbridge Healthcare. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the nurses for their unwavering support over the past two years. Their kindness, along with the care and love provided by Medi-Home Health & Hospice during his most recent illness, will forever be remembered.
In honor of Wallace’s memory, a private funeral ceremony will be held for family members. For those who wish to honor Wallace in a meaningful way, donations can be made to Medi-Home Health and Hospice, an organization that provided him with comfort and dignity in his final days.
Wallace Martin's life was a beautiful tapestry of love, laughter, and cherished memories. While he will be dearly missed, his spirit will continue to inspire all who knew him.
