In Loving Memory of Vonetta Hallums
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Vonetta Hallums, a cherished daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, and friend, on April 3, 2026, at the age of 49. Vonetta left us while surrounded by loved ones at hospice in Cincinnati, after bravely battling kidney failure with unwavering strength and grace.
Born on December 21, 1976, in Cincinnati, Ohio, Vonetta was the beloved daughter of Brenda Hallums and Jake Duke. She spent her life in the vibrant Cincinnati community, where she touched countless hearts with her kindness and infectious sense of humor. Vonetta was the proud sister to Monique Hallums, Jacqueline Hallums, and brother Robert Hallums, and together they shared a bond that was as strong as it was loving.
A dedicated mother, Vonetta's world revolved around her children, Jasmin Hallums, Shequila Reynolds, Jamaica Reynolds, and Daryl Reynolds. Her love knew no bounds, and her legacy continues through her cherished grandchildren: Julia Hallums, Natalia Hallums, Carmen Hallums, and Kyron Reynolds, each of whom she adored beyond measure.
Vonetta was a proud graduate of Hughes High School, and furthered her education with a master's degree in business from the University of Cincinnati. Her career at Frisch's Big Boy spanned over three decades, where she began as a waitress and rose to the esteemed position of general manager. Her colleagues and patrons alike admired her dedication and leadership, and she retired in 2020 due to health complications.
To those who knew her, Vonetta was a fashionista with an impeccable sense of style, always on the lookout for the best deals. A true shopaholic, she could never resist a sale, and Black Friday was her favorite time of year. Vonetta's warm smile and generous spirit were her trademarks, and she was known to lift the spirits of those around her with a joke or a kind gesture. Her willingness to help others, even to the point of giving the clothes off her back, was a testament to her genuinely nice nature. She was the backbone of her family, providing unwavering support and love.
In accordance with her wishes, a private ceremony will be held to honor Vonetta's life. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Hospice of Cincinnati for their compassionate care during her final days. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Vonetta's memory to the American Heart Association, an organization close to her heart.
Vonetta leaves behind a host of family and friends who will forever cherish the memories they shared with her. Her spirit will continue to inspire all who knew her, reminding us to live with kindness, love, and laughter.
Rest in peace, dear Vonetta. You will be deeply missed, but your light will shine on in the hearts of those who loved you.
