Born on August 25, 1956, in Jessup, Maryland, Vondra was a beacon of love and resilience, touching countless lives with her warmth and radiant spirit. Vondra was the beloved daughter of William and Theresa Johnson, who predeceased her, along with her devoted husband, Herman Smith Sr., and her sister, Valeri Johnson. She is survived by her cherished children, Marcus Smith and Herman Smith Jr., her stepson, siblings William Johnson (Cathy), Monica Bell, Bernadette Christian (Terrence), Marchelle King (Allen), Gregory Johnson (Rhonda), and Jeffrey Smith. She also leaves behind her special and close cousins, Sharon Clemons and Semaj Bash Sr., who held a treasured place in her heart. Vondra’s life was marked by her profound love for her family. She took immense pride in being the first grandchild and the oldest sibling, roles she embraced with grace and affection. Her greatest joy was found in preparing and hosting large family gatherings, where laughter and love filled the air, creating memories that will be cherished forever. A proud graduate of Western Senior High of Baltimore in 1974, Vondra further pursued her education at A.A. Community College, earning a degree in business administration. Her career spanned 35 years as a dedicated state employee for the State of Maryland, where she retired in 2018. Her commitment to her work and her colleagues was a testament to her integrity and dedication. Vondra was a vibrant member of the Red Hatters club of Baltimore and found joy in bowling with her two leagues. Her passion for gardening was evident in her immaculate and picture-perfect lawn, a source of community admiration. Her holiday light displays were blue-ribbon worthy, delighting neighbors and passersby alike. A woman of deep compassion and generosity, Vondra had a heart of gold. She was always there for those in need, offering support and kindness. Her legacy is one of love, strength, and unwavering dedication to her family and community. A celebration of Vondra’s life will be held on August 31, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Vaughn Green Funeral Home, located at 8728 Liberty Road, Randallstown, Maryland 21133. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to a charity of your choice, reflecting the giving spirit that Vondra embodied throughout her life.
