Voight "Buddy" Netherland

Voight "Buddy" Netherland, a beloved pillar of his community, passed away peacefully in Alexandria, Louisiana, surrounded by his cherished family. Born on November 8, 1937, in Jonesville, Louisiana, Buddy lived a rich and full life characterized by love, laughter, and dedication to those around him. Buddy was the treasured son of the late Guy and Philisty Brown Netherland. He was also preceded in death by his son, Bert Lane Netherland, brothers, Sylvester and Ben Netherland, and his sister Gracie Stump. Buddy is survived by his devoted wife of 21 years, LeAnne Trible Netherland, who stood by his side with unwavering love. He leaves behind a loving family who will continue to honor his legacy. His son, Les Gerald Netherland, and wife Renee, and his daughter, Lori Cockerham, and husband James, carry forward his spirit of kindness and humor. His brothers, Tip Netherland, and Clayton Netherland and wife Phyllis, along with his sister, Millie Murry and husband Acie, and sister-in-law, Melinda Netherland, hold dear the memories of their times together. Buddy also embraced his extended family, including his stepson, Josh Releford and wife Patricia, and stepdaughter, Gina Limas and husband David. His grandchildren, Curtis, Coby, and Brett Cockerham, and Sawyer Netherland, along with his step-grandchildren, Chase Releford, Elaina Limas, Ethan Releford, and Kaitlyn Releford, brought immense joy to his life. Buddy was further blessed with seven great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives who will forever cherish his memory. A proud veteran, Buddy served his country in the US Army, demonstrating his commitment to duty and honor. In civilian life, he was a successful business owner, known for his entrepreneurial spirit and dedication to his work. Buddy's true passions extended beyond his professional accomplishments. Known for his vibrant sense of humor and infectious laugh, Buddy never met a stranger and was always ready with a joke. His love for children and his gift for making people smile were truly extraordinary. An avid gardener, Buddy owned his own greenhouse, generously sharing his plants with friends and neighbors. His love for cooking and his fondness for ice cream were well-known, as were his frequent adventures to garage and estate sales, always on the hunt for a good bargain. Buddy relished spending time with family, especially his children and grandchildren, and found joy in the simple pleasures of life, such as watching football—although he would humorously make an exception for the Dallas Cowboys. A service to honor and celebrate Buddy's remarkable life will be held on August 15, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Wallace Ridge Pentecostal Church, located at 14565 LA HWY 124, Jonesville, LA, 71343. Family and friends are invited to gather and remember Buddy's warmth, generosity, and the joy he brought into every life he touched. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to a charity of your choice in Buddy's memory. His kindness and love for others will live on through these acts of generosity. Buddy's legacy of laughter, love, and kindness will endure in the hearts of all who knew him. May his memory be a guiding light for those he leaves behind.
