Vivian Raymond, born on December 4, 1958, in Sacramento, left this world peacefully on October 4, 2026, after a courageous battle with illness. A beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, Vivian's life was a testament to resilience, passion, and the joy of shared knowledge.
Vivian was the cherished daughter of Frank and Jeanne Raymond, who predeceased her along with her sister, Judith. She is survived by her devoted son, Peter, and his wife Katie, as well as her treasured grandsons, Chad and Christian. Her legacy continues through her great-grandsons, Santiago and Roman, who brought immense joy to her later years.
Vivian's journey was one marked by a thirst for knowledge and a love for adventure. Although she chose to leave traditional schooling early, earning her GED, her intellectual curiosity never waned. Vivian was known for her ability to engage in discussions on a wide array of topics, always eager to share her insights with those around her.
Her career was spent in the service department of auto dealerships, where she was respected not only for her skills but for her camaraderie with colleagues. Vivian's love for mechanics extended beyond the workplace; she was a motorcycle enthusiast who enjoyed the thrill of the open road and the satisfaction of understanding the complexities of engines. She often found herself in the company of fellow enthusiasts, where she was equally comfortable engaging in "shop talk."
Vivian's personal life was enriched by the relationships she built. She married Theodore Bruner on May 19, 1975. Though their marriage ended in 1986. In December 1990, she found love once more with Peter Pirtle, with whom she shared a meaningful partnership until his passing in 2010.
In honoring her memory, the family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the dedicated staff at UCSF, Mercy Hospital, and Sutter General Hospital for the compassionate care they provided.
