Born on September 29, 1936, in the quaint town of Covelo, California, Virginia was the beloved daughter of George and Caliesta Britton. Raised in a large and loving family, she was blessed with the company of her many siblings, all of whom predeceased her: sisters Susan Sandelin, Wanda Mclaughlin, Irma Hoaglin, Barbara Anderson, Linda Medina, and Shirley Delegado, and brothers Roy Britton, Ed Britton, George Britton, Mervin Britton, Armstead Want, and Buster Azbill. The familial bonds she cherished deeply were a testament to the love and care that defined her life.
Virginia was the devoted wife of the late George D. Whipple, Jr., with whom she shared over 70 years of marriage—a partnership marked by unwavering love and mutual respect. Together, they built a beautiful family that she treasured above all. Virginia is survived by her loving children, Katherine Henningsen, Floyd Whipple, Jan Whipple-DePina, and Jonathan Whipple, who carry forward her legacy of compassion and resilience. She embraced her sons-in-law, Rico DePina and Curt Henningsen, with the warmth and acceptance that was her hallmark. Her grandchildren, Nick and Noah DePina, and Katie Henningsen, were the light of her life, and she took immense pride in their achievements, celebrating each milestone with joy.
Virginia's career as a Registered Dental Assistant and Office Manager was marked by dedication and a genuine desire to help others. Her colleagues and patients alike remember her for her bright smile and the kindness she extended to everyone she met. Beyond her professional life, Virginia was a woman of diverse interests and talents. Her love for cooking was legendary among family and friends, her culinary creations bringing people together in love and laughter.
