Virginia Grace Rawlings (Honey)

Virginia, born on October 8, 1933, in Des Moines, Iowa, passed away peacefully at home on September 4, 2026. She was a cherished daughter of the late Roy and Louise Heflin. Virginia's life was a testament to love, dedication, and an unyielding spirit that touched everyone around her. Virginia graduated from El Segundo High School, setting the foundation for a life filled with meaningful work and sincere connections. She devoted many years of her career as a secretary for the Inglewood ISD and later retired from the City of Afton, Iowa, where she was remembered for her diligence and kindness. A dedicated member of Talty Baptist Church, Virginia found joy and solace in her faith community. She was not only active in her church but also in the lives of her family and friends. Virginia was a strong, caring individual who loved unconditionally and was always ready to lend a helping hand. Her hobbies reflected her vibrant personality and zest for life. She enjoyed many years on the golf course, where her laughter often echoed through the greens. Virginia also delighted in playing cards, baking, crocheting, and spending quiet afternoons engrossed in a good book. Virginia is survived by her loving son, Tim Rawlings (Vivian), her dear sister, Helen Newell, and her four cherished grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Louise Heflin, and her siblings, Jeanne Keyser, Richard Heflin, and Janice Shirley. Her family will forever hold her in their hearts, carrying forward her legacy of love and kindness. A service to honor Virginia's life will be held on September 18, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Talty Baptist Church, located at 510 N. Farm to Market Rd. 148, Crandall, Texas. The family invites you to join them in celebrating her remarkable life and the indelible impact she had on all who knew her. In lieu of flowers, Virginia's family kindly requests donations be made to Talty Baptist Church (new building fund), in her memory. The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Davey Perrin, Hope Health Hospice RN Lynsey and Aide Amanda for the compassionate care and love they provided to Virginia in her final days.
