Virginia Ann Marrs

August 10, 1931 — March 22, 2026

Virginia Ann Marrs, a beloved soul whose kindness and generosity touched countless lives, peacefully passed away on March 22, 2026, at the age of 94. Born on August 10, 1931, in Drumright, Oklahoma, Virginia was the cherished daughter of George and Lavina (Bragg) Williams. Her life was a testament to the enduring power of love, faith, and family. Virginia was preceded in death by her devoted parents; her beloved son, Scott Allen Marrs; her brothers, Ponthadeleon, Leland, and Melvin Williams; and her sisters, Helen and Vivian. She leaves behind a legacy of love, survived by her devoted daughter-in-law, Becky Marrs of the home, her cherished granddaughter, Melanie Merchberger, and two great-grandchildren, Avery and Colton Merchberger. Her family was the center of her world, and their lives are a testament to her nurturing spirit and unwavering love. Virginia, a proud graduate of Drumright High School's class of 1949, held her community close to her heart. For 68 years, she was an active member of Olive First Baptist Church, where she was baptized in 1959 at Buck Eye Creek. Her dedication to her faith and community was a cornerstone of her life, providing a foundation of love and support to those around her. Throughout her life, Virginia found joy in the simple pleasures. She maintained a beautiful yard, enjoyed long walks, and dedicated her time to assisting at her church. However, her greatest joy was being a loving mother to her son Scott, who was her pride and joy. In a touching reciprocity of love, Scott spent the last 15 years of his life providing 24-hour care for Virginia, a testament to the deep bond they shared. Virginia's kindness extended far beyond her immediate family. Her warmth and generosity were felt by her nieces and nephews: Mark Whitehead and Sherri, Jim Allen Marrs and Kim, Eva Sue Nichols and Steven, Karen Dixon and Bobby, Ronnie Shelton and Shawna, Gary Shelton and Verna, Steve Shelton and Julie, as well as Kara, Evie, Chris, Jana, and Myrl Ann. Her family, spread across generations, continues to carry her legacy of love and kindness. A service to honor Virginia's remarkable life will be held on March 24, 2026, at 2:00 PM. As we gather to celebrate her life, we remember her as a beacon of love and faith, whose spirit will continue to inspire all who were blessed to know her. In this time of remembrance, we find solace in the enduring impact of her life, a life filled with love, compassion, and unwavering devotion to family and faith. Virginia Ann Marrs leaves behind a world forever touched by her gentle spirit. Her legacy is her family, her faith, and the countless lives she enriched with her kindness. Though she is no longer with us, her spirit lives on in the hearts of all who loved her. May she rest in peace, embraced by the eternal love she so freely gave.
