It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of Viney May Reed, who left this world peacefully at her home on July 30, 2026. Born on February 13, 1956, in the vibrant city of Chicago, IL, Viney was a beacon of love, joy, and resilience, whose spirit touched the lives of all who knew her. Viney was the beloved daughter of Laura Walker and James Jones. She was predeceased by her father, James, her mother Laura Walker, her cherished son Will Reed, her sister Lisa Walker, and her grandparents, Samual and Lizzie Roundtree. Her legacy continues through her surviving family members, including her brother Howard Roundtree, sisters Madlyne Walker-Jones and Glori Roundtree, and a host of beloved nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Viney was a proud grandmother to 12 grandchildren and a doting great-grandmother to 15 great-grandchildren, each of whom held a special place in her heart. Viney was a woman of remarkable vision and determination. She channeled her passion for style and fashion into a thriving career as an entrepreneur, establishing her own clothing store. Her boutique was not just a business, but a reflection of her vibrant personality and her commitment to empowering those around her. Viney's work was infused with love and joy, qualities that endeared her to both her customers and her community. Beyond her professional accomplishments, Viney was a woman of many talents and interests. She was known for her impeccable sense of style and her love of cooking and shopping. Her kitchen was often filled with the warmth of her culinary creations, and her shopping trips were legendary, not just for the treasures she found, but for the joy she brought to those who accompanied her. Viney was deeply committed to her community, dedicating herself to making a difference in the lives of those around her with boundless energy and kindness. A celebration of Viney's extraordinary life will be held on August 13, 2026, at 9:00 AM, at the House of Branch, located at 3125 Roosevelt, Chicago, IL 60612. Family, friends, and all whose lives she touched are invited to join in honoring her memory and celebrating the indelible mark she left on all who knew her.
