Vincent Miola

Vincent Miola, a beloved father, grandfather, and cherished friend, passed away peacefully at his home on May 29, 2016, surrounded by his loving family. Born on October 6, 1928, in Bingham Canyon, Salt Lake City, Utah, Vincent lived a life marked by dedication, service, and love. The son of Vincenzo and Domenica Miola, Vincent was raised with a strong sense of family and community. In 1950, he married the love of his life, Katherine Rekoutis, and together they embarked on a journey that would span 63 years of love and partnership until Katherine's passing. Their marriage was a testament to enduring love and commitment. Vincent served his country with honor in the United States Army during the Korean War in 1950. His sense of duty and patriotism were evident throughout his life, both in his military service and his career. Vincent dedicated nearly four decades to working at the Kennecott mine, from 1944 until his retirement in 1983. His work ethic and dedication were well-respected by all who knew him. Beyond his professional life, Vincent was deeply committed to his community. He was an active member of the Bingham Fireman’s Association from 1954 until 2013, where he contributed countless hours to ensuring the safety and well-being of his neighbors. Vincent's involvement in the association was a reflection of his generous spirit and his desire to give back to the community that had given him so much. Vincent was known for his warmth, humor, and wisdom. His favorite phrase, "It's better to be an hour early than five minutes late… Are you savvy?" was a motto by which he lived, exemplifying his values of punctuality and preparedness. With a twinkle in his eye and a kind word for everyone, Vincent had a way of brightening the day of those around him. Vincent is survived by his devoted son, Michael Miola(Debi)of South Jordan, Utah, and his loving daughter, Margaret Rasmusen(Earl) of Salt Lake City, Utah. Sister Angelina Miola Padjen of Midvale Utah. He was predeceased by his cherished wife, Katherine, whose memory he held dear. The family suggests that donations be made to a charity of one's choice in honor of Vincent's memory, continuing his legacy of generosity and kindness. Vincent's life was a testament to the power of love, service, and community. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him, but his spirit will live on in the hearts of his family and friends forever.
