Vincent Joseph Reckers
October 8, 1954 — August 2, 2026
Vincent Joseph Reckers, who brought joy and laughter into the lives of all who knew him, passed away peacefully at home on August 2, 2026, after a valiant battle with end stage kidney disease. Born on October 8, 1954, in Covington, Kentucky, Vincent lived a life filled with love, laughter, and service.
Vincent was the beloved son of Joseph and Margaret Reckers, who preceded him in death. He was a devoted husband to Jaye Carol Reckers, with whom he shared 47 wonderful years of marriage. The couple married on December 9, 1978, and together they raised two children, Leslie Marie Reckers and Christopher Patrick Reckers, who survives him along with his wife, Andrea Mary Smith. Vincent was also a cherished grandfather to Jonah William and Simon Donald Reckers, who brought immense joy to his life.
Education played a significant role in Vincent's life. He attended Saint Catherine's of Ft. Thomas, Kentucky, graduated from Newport Catholic High School, and went on to study at the University of Cincinnati College Conservatory of Music as a Broadcast Major. His career in broadcasting was distinguished; he was a familiar voice on WGUC, WSAI-FM, WEBN, and for 23 years, he was the notable "voice" of WCET-TV.
Vincent’s passion for service was evident in his advocacy for the autism community. As co-president of the Autism Society of Cincinnati, he was instrumental in founding the "Rock 'N Roll Over Autism" events, which raised awareness and support. His dedication to this cause was rooted in his deep love for his family, especially his daughter, and his commitment to making the world a better place.
A talented musician, Vincent was also part of folk mass groups at Bellarmine Chapel. His love of music, art, and photography enriched his life and the lives of those around him. Known for his witty sense of humor, Vincent had a unique ability to make others smile through his insightful and often humorous observations of life.
Vincent's life was a testament to his character—a wonderful husband, a devoted father, and a life partner who cared deeply for those he loved. His family, especially his wife Jaye and son Christopher, provided him with loving care during his final years, a reflection of the profound love that defined his life.
A service to honor Vincent’s life will be held on August 22, 2026, at Radel Funeral Home, located at 650 Neeb Road, Cincinnati, Ohio 45238. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in memory of Vincent.
