Vincent Henrich
May 24, 1954 — July 8, 2026
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Vincent Henrich, a cherished brother, devoted friend, and inspiring teacher, who left this world on the morning of July 8, 2026, at the age of 72. Born on May 24, 1954, in Fort Belvoir, Virginia, Vince lived a life full of passion, creativity, and kindness. He passed away peacefully after battling cancer, which had recently become more aggressive, and succumbed to heart failure.
Vince was welcomed into this world by his loving parents, Vincent C. Henrich Jr. and Valerie E. Henrich, who both predeceased him, along with his infant brother, David James. He is survived by his beloved siblings, brother Gary Henrich and sister Jenny Henrich, who remember him fondly for his quick wit, infectious humor, and generous spirit.
A man of many talents, Vince was an avid tennis player and golf enthusiast who relished attending a wide array of sporting events, including NHL hockey and MLB baseball games. His competitive spirit was evident from a young age, having participated in youth tennis leagues and later winning the men's doubles title with his brother Gary in Vandalia, Ohio, in 1976. His love for the game continued through college summers, where he competed in numerous tennis tournaments in the Dayton, Ohio area.
Vince's interests extended far beyond the realm of sports. He was a creative soul, finding joy in art, music, and gardening. His white stucco home, fondly named "Casablanca," was adorned with beautiful cacti and roses that he nurtured with care. Vince's home was a testament to his ability to make any space feel welcoming and alive, much like the atmosphere he created for his guests.
A dedicated educator, Vince shared his passion for genetics and science with students at UNC Greensboro, where he taught with enthusiasm and a genuine interest in his students' success. He was particularly fond of encouraging young people, offering guidance and support to his nieces and nephews as they navigated their educational and career choices.
Vince's commitment to fostering the growth of young minds extended to his involvement with Rotary International, where he played an instrumental role in establishing a scholarship program for low and middle-income students. His work with Rotary was driven by a desire to make a meaningful impact in the lives of others, a testament to his generous and compassionate heart.
Vince's presence will be dearly missed by all who knew him. His legacy of kindness, humor, and dedication to helping others will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to have been touched by his life.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to a charity of your choice, in honor of Vince's commitment to philanthropic causes.
May Vince's soul find peace and his memory forever remain a blessing to us all.
