January 12, 1958 — June 6, 2026

Victoria "Vicki" Simatovich-Palmer, born on January 12, 1958, in the welcoming town of Centerville, IA, peacefully departed this world on June 6, 2026, at MercyOne in Waterloo, IA. Her final moments were spent surrounded by the love of her cherished family, a fitting testament to the importance she placed on familial bonds throughout her life. Vicki was the beloved daughter of Hazel and Andrew Simatovich, who preceded her in death, along with her devoted husband Greg Palmer, whom she married on July 18, 1992, in their Florida home. Her brothers, Andrew and Clarence, as well as her niece Susie Wielder, have also gone before her, awaiting her in a place of eternal peace. She leaves behind a loving family who will forever hold her memory close: her brother, Ron Simatovich, and sister-in-law, Linda; her nephews, Scott (Kelly) Simatovich, Shawn (Jill) Simatovich, and Stacy Simatovich; her nieces, Jami Drew, Kim (David) Pepe, and Stephanie (Tony) Simatovich. The legacy of her kindness and love continues through her numerous cousins, great nieces and nephews, and a wide circle of friends who will miss her dearly. Vicki was a proud graduate of Centerville High School, class of 1976. Vicki received her Assoicate's Degree in Liberal Arts from Indian Hills Community College on May 19, 1981. Her career at Publix spanned 17 years, where she greeted customers with a warm smile both as a cashier and in the deli. Her colleagues and patrons appreciated her hardworking spirit and friendly demeanor, which left a lasting impression on everyone she met. A woman of many interests, Vicki treasured time spent with friends, captivated by the melodies of her favorite music. Her family was the cornerstone of her life, and she delighted in the company of her beloved cats, finding joy in their companionship. Her long, beautiful hair was as much a signature of her personality as was her kindness, a trait that illuminated every room she entered. A celebration of Vicki's life will be held on July 18, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at the Elgin Cemetery in Mystic, IA. Her family invites all who knew her to join in remembering the extraordinary life of a woman who touched so many hearts. As we bid farewell to Vicki, we hold close the special message from her family: “We are all stories in the end, remembered by the adventures we had, the achievements we made, and the people we loved. So make sure your story is a good one.” – Nishan Panwar Vicki's story was indeed a good one, filled with love, warmth, and unforgettable memories. She will be profoundly missed and lovingly remembered.
