October 17, 1946 — April 11, 2026

Victor Samek, a devoted family man and cherished friend, passed away peacefully at home on April 11, 2026, surrounded by his loved ones. Born in Streator, Illinois, on October 17, 1946, Victor lived a life full of love, laughter, and dedication. The son of Paul and Dorothy Samek, Victor was a proud alumnus of Streator High School, graduating in 1964, before pursuing his passion for electrical work at an Electrician Trade School. Victor's career as a certified electrician with the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) was a testament to his commitment and skill, earning the respect and admiration of colleagues and clients alike. Victor's life was rich with interests and deep connections. An avid car enthusiast, he was a long-time member of the Dream Machines Car Club, where he shared his passion for classic cars, especially his beloved 1973 Chevy Nova. His enthusiasm for automobiles was surpassed only by his love for family and friends, with whom he enjoyed countless cherished moments. Victor is survived by his loving partner, Cheryl Nutgrass, who was his steadfast companion and confidante. Together, they wove a tapestry of love and support that extended to their family. Victor was a proud father to his children: Jeanette (Tim) Novak, Victor (Renee) Samek, Rebecca (Doug) Schmitt, Scott Nutgrass, and Lori Folken (Kevin Chapman). His legacy is also carried on by his sister, Julie (Greg) Palko, and his niece, Jill Palko, who shared in the joy of his life. A doting grandfather, Victor delighted in the lives of his 11 grandchildren. His eyes would light up with stories of their adventures, achievements, and the simple joys of their company. He found boundless joy and inspiration in their growth and successes, often sharing tales of their latest exploits with a twinkle in his eye. Victor was predeceased by his beloved parents, Paul and Dorothy, whose values and principles he carried forward throughout his life. In honoring their memory, Victor instilled the same virtues of kindness, integrity, and love for family in those he held dear. A celebration of Victor's life will be held in a manner befitting the warmth and grace with which he lived. As we remember him, let us carry forward his legacy of love, dedication, and joy for life. Victor's spirit will forever remain in the hearts of those he touched, a gentle reminder of a life well-lived. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made in Victor's memory to a charity of one's choice, reflecting his generous spirit and commitment to helping others. As we say goodbye to Victor, we do so with gratitude for the indelible mark he left on our lives, and the enduring love that will forever be his gift to us all.
