Victor Giesbrecht January 23, 1942 – July 27, 2026 It is with heavy hearts and cherished memories that we announce the peaceful passing of Victor Giesbrecht at his home on July 27, 2026. Born in Steinbach, Manitoba, on January 23, 1942, Victor was a beacon of kindness and integrity to all who had the privilege of knowing him. He was the beloved son of the late Cornelius and Helena Giesbrecht and is predeceased by his devoted wife, Mary, and brother, Edward Giesbrecht. Victor's professional life was marked by over three decades of dedicated service to the City of Winnipeg's Planning, Property and Development Department. He rose through the ranks to become a highly respected manager, leaving an indelible mark on the community and his colleagues. His commitment to public service was mirrored in his leadership, integrity, and the profound respect he garnered from all who worked with him. Outside the realm of his professional achievements, Victor found joy and contentment in life's simple pleasures. His love for biking, the outdoors, and the satisfaction of a freshly mowed lawn were reflections of his appreciation for everyday beauty and tranquility. Victor cherished drives through the countryside and the quiet moments that allowed him to connect with nature and those he loved. Victor was a devoted husband, father, son, brother, and friend. He had an extraordinary ability to make people feel welcome, and his humor, storytelling, and sincere interest in others allowed him to forge deep connections. His generosity and compassion were hallmarks of his character, and he was always ready to lend a helping hand to family, friends, colleagues, and his community. Victor gave of himself wholeheartedly, never seeking recognition or reward. He leaves behind his loving children, Lori Lavitt and Ron Giesbrecht, his grandchildren, Samuel and Brian Lavitt, and his brothers, Howard and Leonard Giesbrecht, who will continue to honor his legacy. Victor's nurturing spirit and boundless love enriched the lives of his extended family and friends. A private ceremony will be held to celebrate Victor's life, as per his wishes. In lieu of flowers, those who wish to honor his memory are encouraged to make a donation to a charity of their choice, reflecting Victor's enduring spirit of generosity. Victor's life was a testament to the power of kindness, loyalty, and humility. He will be deeply missed but forever remembered by all whose lives he touched.
