In Loving Memory

Vicky Scimone (Rizzo)
February 15, 1947 — May 10, 2026
It is with heavy hearts yet deep gratitude for a life well-lived that we announce the passing of Vicky Scimone (née Rizzo), who peacefully left this world on May 10, 2026, after a courageous battle. Born on February 15, 1947, in the welcoming town of Lyndhurst, New Jersey, Vicky's journey of 79 years was filled with love, family, resilience, and an enduring commitment to those she cared for.
Vicky was the beloved daughter of the late Victor Rizzo and Joan Erickson. Following the loss of her parents, she was lovingly raised by her stepfather, David Erickson, and stepmother, Marie Miller, both of whom preceded her in death. Vicky's early years in Lyndhurst were marked by the nurturing presence of her family, a foundation that she would build upon throughout her life.
A devoted wife, Vicky shared a remarkable life with her cherished husband, Joseph Scimone. Together, they created a home filled with warmth, laughter, and unwavering support for one another. Vicky was the proud and devoted mother of three children: Shawn, who, along with her husband Troy, carries forward Vicky's legacy of kindness and compassion; Victor Rizzo, who, with his wife Metta, continues the family tradition of strong values and dedication; and Deena Cornelius, whose life is a testament to her mother's strength and nurturing spirit.
Vicky's love extended beyond her immediate family. She was a proud grandmother to six grandchildren and a doting great-grandmother to eight great-grandchildren, all of whom were the light of her life. Her legacy of love and resilience lives on through them, as they carry forward her teachings and memories.
Vicky is also survived by her beloved sister, Tina Turner, and her husband Lou, who were constant figures of love and support throughout her life. She cherished the bond they shared, one that withstood the tests of time and life's challenges.
A woman of grace and gratitude, Vicky's family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to the compassionate staff at Sacred Heart Hospital. Their care and dedication during her final days will forever be remembered, and they are all seen as heroes in the eyes of those who loved Vicky.
A service to celebrate Vicky's life will be held on June 1, 2026, at 10:00 AM at Hennessey Funeral Home, located on Division. Friends and family are invited to come together to honor a truly remarkable woman who touched the lives of so many with her kindness, strength, and unwavering love.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made in Vicky's memory to a charity of choice, continuing her legacy of generosity and compassion. Vicky's spirit will continue to inspire all who knew her, as she rests peacefully, reunited with those who have gone before her.
May her memory be a blessing to all who had the honor of knowing her.
