It is with heavy hearts and profound love that we announce the passing of Vick George Woltjer, who departed this world on April 25, 2026, at the age of 71. Born on October 6, 1954, in Hampton, Iowa, Vick peacefully left us at his home after a courageous battle with illness, surrounded by the love of his cherished family. Vick was the beloved son of Fredrick and Helen Christensen Woltjer, who predeceased him. He was also preceded in death by his siblings, Susan and Gordy Woltjer; in-laws, Glen "Pug" Simpson and Joyce Heitland & George; his grandson, Ely Hawley; and his brothers-in-law, David Simpson, Chuck Newhnower, RL Spurgeon, Steve Bonjour, and Jerry Hovenga. He is survived by his devoted wife, Robin Simpson Woltjer, with whom he shared a remarkable journey of 56 years, including 47 years of marriage. Together, they built a life rich in love and laughter, raising three wonderful children: Christopher (Glenn) Woltjer of Hampton, Crystal Rehm (Jim Furns) of Iowa Falls, and Victoria (Zach) Hawley of Hampton. Vick's legacy of love continues through his granddaughters, Brealyn and Brooklyn Hawley, and Kennedy (Truman) Klein, along with his great-granddaughter, Emery Klein. Vick also leaves behind a large and loving family, including his siblings, Penny Newhomer, Jean Hovinga, Gwen Spurgeon, Esther Lang, Cheryl Bonjour, Audrey Sharp, Dick Woltjer, Dean Woltjer, and Wayne Woltjer, as well as numerous nieces and nephews who will fondly remember his warmth and humor. Vick's professional life was marked by dedication and passion. With a career spanning 53 years, he worked at United Hydraulics and Seabees, where his love for his job was evident to all who knew him. Vick's presence in the warehouse, often astride his side loader, was as much a part of the place as the walls themselves. His work ethic and charm afforded him the opportunity to mentor many, forging lasting friendships along the way. An enthusiastic "Bargain Betty," Vick had an uncanny knack for spotting a good deal. His love for garage sales and antiques was well-known, and he delighted in restoring old furniture or crafting new pieces from scrap. Camping, particularly when it involved flea markets and swap meets, brought him joy, as did riding his Harley and attending bike rallies. Despite questionable photo-taking skills, Vick's adventures were fueled by a spirit of fun and exploration. Vick's family was his greatest treasure, and his grandchildren held a special place in his heart. Known for his iconic hair, which drew playful comparisons to Alan Jackson and his own hippie flair, Vick's charm and humor endeared him to all. His quirky personality and zest for life will be remembered with fond smiles by everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. Vick George Woltjer lived a life full of love, laughter, and determination, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of those he encountered. His spirit will forever be cherished and celebrated by his family and friends, who take comfort in knowing that he is at peace. A celebration of Vick's life will be held in Hampton, Iowa, where family and friends will gather to honor the incredible man he was. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you honor Vick's memory by embracing life's simple pleasures and cherishing the time spent with loved ones.
