Poem / Prayer

I sit in disbelief, knowing that you're no longer with us, while I'm reading all our texts and I'm hearting all your pictures. I didn't want you to leave, but it was only God's choice. I hate that my voicemail never worked; you had a wonderful voice. "(Sweet Sweet Baby) Since You've Been Gone" -- I know it was your favorite Aretha Franklin song. For sure, you left your prints. Now you're hanging with the family and Prince, and I'm crying, trying to make it make sense. A hard pill to swallow. This one really cut me deep, but I really can't be selfish because I know that you're at peace. I'm good mostly, but sometimes I cry and can't sleep. You were like the life of a party I can't leave. We have memories we'll hold in all our hearts, grand, but losing you was never the plan, and I understand... Rest in peace. -- LaDondrick Armstrong
