October 10, 1929 — August 19, 2026

Veronica Almanza Jennings, a beloved matriarch and compassionate spirit, peacefully departed this world on August 19, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of love and kindness that touched all who knew her. Born on October 10, 1929, in the vibrant city of Detroit, Michigan, Veronica was the cherished daughter of Mary Sullivan Almanza and Henry Almanza. Veronica's life was a testament to enduring love and dedication. She shared more than 78 beautiful years with her husband, Joe Jennings Sr., and together they cultivated a family rich in love and warmth. Predeceased by her beloved Joe, as well as two of her cherished children, Hiawatha and Rodriguze, and her dear granddaughter Kimberly, Veronica now joins them in eternal peace. She was also preceded in death by her siblings Josephine, Henry Jr., Guadalupe, John T, Frank Irona, Rosemary, Concha, Sefronia, and Osman. A culinary alchemist, Veronica's kitchen was a haven where family and friends gathered to savor her famous spaghetti and enchiladas. Her masterfully decorated cakes were not only a feast for the eyes but also a symbol of her creativity and passion for bringing joy to others through food. Her faith was a guiding light throughout her life. Born into the Roman Catholic faith, she embraced the Islamic faith at the tender age of one, remaining a devoted follower until her passing. Her spiritual journey was marked by an unwavering belief in forgiveness and second chances, virtues she lived by every day. Known affectionately as "Aunt Roni," Veronica was a beacon of hope and comfort in her community. Her home was always open, offering warmth, meals, and a safe haven for children and families in need. She embodied the essence of an earth angel, providing charitable gifts and support to all who crossed her path. Her fairness, supportive nature, and willingness to lend a hand were hallmarks of her character, and she enriched the lives of her surviving children, numerous grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and a wide circle of friends. We invite those who wish to honor Veronica's memory to join us for a service on August 24, 2026, at 10:15 AM at the Miramar National Cemetery, located at 5795 Nobel Drive, San Diego, CA 92122.
