In Loving Memory

Vernon Dale Norman
February 15, 1952 — June 30, 2026
Vernon Norman, born on February 15, 1952, in the vibrant city of Houston, Texas, passed away on June 30, 2026, due to complications from heat exhaustion. Vernon's life was a tapestry of love, dedication, and joy, woven with the threads of family, friendship, and community.
Vernon was the cherished son of Steve and Thelma Norman, who have preceded him in death, along with his beloved brothers, Carlos, John, and Wayne, and his dear sister, Beverly. His presence will be profoundly missed by his surviving family, including his devoted daughter, Mika Taylor, and his siblings Larry, Sandra, Kerry, Marvin, and Linda Norman.
A proud graduate of Phyllis Wheatley High School in 1970, Vernon was a man of integrity and diligence. He spent three decades working at Sears, where his commitment and work ethic were evident to all who knew him. Retiring at the age of sixty, he left behind not just a career, but a legacy of dedication and camaraderie that colleagues and customers alike cherished.
Vernon was a man of faith and a longstanding member of the Northside Antioch Missionary Baptist Church in northeast Houston. His spiritual community was a cornerstone of his life, providing strength and solace through the years.
An avid sports fan, Vernon delighted in the simple joys of life—weekend barbecues, where the aroma of grilled delights would mingle with laughter and stories shared with friends and family. His love for entertaining was not just about the food, but about creating moments of connection and happiness for those he held dear.
In honoring Vernon's wishes, a private funeral ceremony will be held to celebrate his life and legacy. While the ceremony will be intimate, the memories of Vernon will continue to touch the hearts of all who knew him.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made in Vernon's memory to a charity of your choice, reflecting the giving spirit that Vernon embodied throughout his life.
Though Vernon has left this earthly realm, his spirit will forever linger in the laughter of a shared story, the warmth of a summer afternoon, and the loving embrace of family and friends. May his memory be a blessing to all who were fortunate to know him.
