Verna May Holland

It is with deep sadness and profound love that we announce the passing of Verna May Holland, a cherished mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, on July 22, 2026. Born on June 18, 1930, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Verna's life was a life full of love, dedication, and kindness. She was the beloved daughter of Vernon and May Elizabeth Henry Forman, who predeceased her, along with her sister, Norma Jean Lessmann. Verna's childhood was filled with the warmth of family and the values that would guide her through life. She graduated from Capital Hill High School in 1948, a testament to her dedication and perseverance. On January 26, 1951, she married Richard Owen Clark. For 35 years, Verna served as a Procurement Clerk at Tinker Air Force Base in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Her commitment and work ethic were evident to all who had the pleasure of working with her. Beyond her professional achievements, Verna was a devoted member of the Daughters of the Republic of Texas, where she found kinship and camaraderie. In her personal life, Verna was a nurturer at heart. She delighted in gardening, sewing, and cooking, often bringing her family together with her delicious meals and vibrant flower beds. Known affectionately as "Nana," a name lovingly given to her by her first grandson, she had an extraordinary gift for making everyone feel special and loved. Her kindness and generosity left an indelible mark on countless lives. Verna is survived by her daughter's, Christine Elizabeth Varnell and Ardis Marie Christensen; her cherished grandchildren, Christopher Michael Christensen, James Hobart Christensen, and Jenny Joan Varnell Bartholow; and her adored great-grandchildren, Kaylee Elizabeth Bartholow, Norah Renee Christensen, Amelia Mae Christensen, and Eleanor Olivia Christensen. She is also survived by her dear siblings, Larry Vernon Forman and Linda Carol Forman Thompson. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations in Verna's memory be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee. The organization holds a special place in their hearts for its commitment to healing and hope. Verna May Holland's legacy is one of love, compassion, and unwavering strength. Her spirit will continue to guide and inspire those she leaves behind, and her memory will forever be a blessing.
