January 4, 1940 — March 24, 2026

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Verline Eldridge, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, who left this world peacefully on March 24, 2026. Verline was 86 years old, having been born on January 4, 1940, in the charming city of Fall River, Massachusetts. Her life was a testament to kindness, resilience, and unwavering love for her family. Verline faced the challenges of her final days with grace and dignity, as she succumbed to kidney failure caused by sepsis. After heartfelt discussions with her family and compassionate hospital staff, Verline transitioned to hospice care, where she spent her last moments enveloped in love, with her eldest son by her side. Preceding Verline in death were her devoted husband, Francis L. Eldridge, who passed away in 1996, and her cherished youngest son, Jon C. Silvia, who departed in 2020. Their memories were a constant source of comfort and inspiration for Verline throughout her life. Verline's legacy lives on through her surviving family members, who will forever cherish the warmth and wisdom she bestowed upon them. Her children, William Silvia Jr. (known lovingly as Sam) and his wife Patricia J. Silvia, Anthony Silvia, Manuel Silvia, and Keith Silvia, will continue to honor her memory and maintain the close-knit family bonds she so deeply valued. Verline was also blessed with the joy of being a grandmother to eight wonderful grandchildren, who brought immense happiness into her life. Additionally, she embraced the role of a great-grandmother to eleven spirited great-grandchildren, each of whom added a new chapter of love and laughter to her story. Her dear friend, Shannon Hall Walker, stood by Verline through life's many seasons, providing a steadfast friendship that enriched both their lives. Their bond was a testament to the enduring power of friendship and shared experiences. Throughout her life, Verline carried herself with a gentle strength, earning the respect and admiration of all who knew her. Her legacy is one of generosity, compassion, and a heart that knew no bounds. She had a remarkable ability to find beauty in life's simplest moments, leaving a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to cross her path. As we bid farewell to Verline, we find solace in knowing that her spirit will forever be a guiding light for her family and friends. Her memory will continue to inspire acts of kindness and love, just as she exemplified throughout her remarkable life. A private celebration of Verline's life will be held at a later date, where family and close friends will gather to honor her memory and share stories of the incredible woman she was. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to a charity of your choice in Verline's memory, continuing her legacy of giving and compassion. May Verline Eldridge rest in eternal peace, reunited with those she loved, and forever cherished in the hearts of those she left behind.
