Verlinda was lovingly surrounded by her devoted family at her home in Romulus, Michigan, where her remarkable journey began on September 10, 1952.
Born to Mabel Ruth Woods and Eugene Woods Sr., Verlinda was the embodiment of warmth and kindness. She was a nurturing soul whose compassion touched everyone who crossed her path. Verlinda's life was a testament to her unwavering faith, her love for music, and her affinity for the soothing embrace of nature's waters. Her gentle spirit and high-spirited laughter were a constant source of joy to all who knew her.
Verlinda's professional years were spent at the Family Hotel, where she dedicated herself to her work with the same passion and commitment she showed in all areas of her life. She had a special gift for hospitality, making everyone feel welcome and valued, a quality that endeared her to colleagues and guests alike.
A devoted mother, Verlinda leaves behind her cherished daughters, Ianthia Woods and Lakesia Woods, who were her pride and joy. Her love and guidance will continue to nurture them and her beloved granddaughter and five great-grandchildren, whose lives she enriched with her boundless love and gentle wisdom.
Verlinda was predeceased by her siblings Eugene Woods Jr., Gratha Woods, Harold Woods, and Ronald Woods. She now joins them in eternal peace, where they are surely rejoicing in a heavenly reunion. Her surviving siblings, Marsha and Linda, along with her extended family member, Eldred Brown, carry forward her legacy of love and unity.
In addition to her immediate family, Verlinda touched the lives of her nieces, Janel, Lanet, Carmen, Raquel, Celina, and her nephew, Louie, who will forever cherish the memories of their dear aunt who had a heart as vast as the sea she adored.
Her dearest friend, Jane Brice, was a steadfast companion, sharing in the laughter and joys of life's journeys. Their bond was a testament to the enduring power of friendship.
Verlinda's love for animals was only surpassed by her devotion to the Lord, whose teachings she lived by each day. Her generosity knew no bounds, and her spirit of joy and laughter uplifted all who encountered her. She leaves a legacy of kindness, and her memory will be forever treasured by those fortunate enough to have known her.
A celebration of Verlinda's life will be held at a later date, where family and friends will gather to honor her legacy and share stories of the remarkable woman she was. Until then, we find solace in knowing that her spirit is free, and she is at peace in the arms of the Lord she loved so dearly.
