It is with profound sadness and yet a heart full of gratitude for a life well-lived that we announce the passing of our beloved Mother,Verlinda Woods born on September 10, 1952, in the warm embrace of Romulus, Michigan. She departed this world on April 20, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of love, kindness, and joy that will forever be cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Ms.Woods was a daughter of the late Mabel Ruth Woods, Eugene Woods Sr, who instilled in her the values of compassion and resilience. She was predeceased by her dear siblings Eugene Woods Jr., Gratha Woods, Harold Woods, and Ronald Woods, with whom she is now reunited in eternal peace.
Her journey through life was marked by an unwavering love for her family, and she took immense pride in her children, Ianthia Woods and Lakesia Woods, who carry forward her spirit and compassion. She was also a cherished sister to Marsha and Linda, and a beloved presence in the lives of her extended family, including Eldred Brown. Her close friend, Jane Brice, who stood by her side through thick and thin, was like family to her.
Ms. Woods was blessed with the joy of a grandchild, who was a source of light and laughter, and to whom she passed down her love for life and her gentle spirit.
Professionally, she dedicated her years to working at the Family Hotel, where her presence was a beacon of warmth and hospitality. She had an extraordinary gift for making everyone feel welcome and valued, a testament to her kind and generous nature.
She was a woman of many passions, with a special love for the soothing presence of water. Whether it was a gentle stream or the vast ocean, she found peace and joy near the water's edge. Music was another of her great loves, filling her home and heart with melodies that echoed her high-spirited nature. Animals, too, were drawn to her gentle soul, and she had a tender love for all creatures. She loved to cook too. Above all, her faith was a guiding light throughout her life, and her love for the Lord was unwavering.
Mother Woods was a woman who loved to laugh, her high spirits infectious to all who were around her. Her laughter and joy were a reflection of her deep appreciation for the simple pleasures of life and her ability to find beauty in every moment.
As we mourn her passing, we also celebrate the incredible life she led. Though she faced a battle of illnesses, her strength and grace never waned, and she passed peacefully at home, surrounded by love.
Her memory will be cherished by all who knew her, and her spirit will continue to inspire those she leaves behind. We find comfort in knowing that she is now at peace, surrounded by the love of those who have gone before her.
A memorial service will be held to honor Ms.Woods and celebrate her life. Details will be shared with family and friends in the coming days. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in her name.
Rest in peace, dear Ms Woods. Your legacy of love and kindness will forever be etched in our hearts.
