Born on August 9, 1941, to Hattie and Willis Heard, Vera grew up in a nurturing home that instilled in her the values of hard work, compassion, and resilience. These values guided her throughout her life, from her formative years at Kimball High School to her successful career as the owner of Lilly White Dry Cleaners, a cherished establishment in her community for many years. Known for her impeccable attention to detail and her warm smile, Vera made everyone who walked through her doors feel like family.
Vera's life was a testament to her unwavering dedication to her family. She was predeceased by her loving parents, her sister Shirley Andrews, her dear grandson Victor Thomas Jr., her great-grandson Marcus Jordan Jr., and her granddaughter Tanika Walker. Despite these profound losses, Vera's spirit remained unbroken, as she found strength in her surviving family members who meant the world to her.
She leaves to cherish her memories her beloved children, Rosemary Green-Andrews and Sheila Thomas, who carry forward her legacy of love and resilience. Vera was a devoted grandmother to Catricia Green, Willie Green, Bianca Galloway, and Marcus Jordan. Her heart was further filled with joy by her many great-grandchildren, who were the light of her life.
Vera's nurturing spirit extended beyond her family to all those fortunate enough to cross her path. Her home was a sanctuary of warmth, laughter, and love, where everyone was welcome. Her generous heart and thoughtful nature were a source of comfort and inspiration to many, and her impact on her community was immeasurable.
A service to celebrate and honor the life of Vera Green will be held on April 4, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Memories Funeral Home, located at 1005 Hudson Avenue, Rochester, NY 14621. Family, friends, and all those whose lives were touched by Vera are invited to join in remembering a remarkable woman who lived a life full of grace, courage, and love.
